Jacqueline Green takes the old game of "Truth or Dare" and turns "fun" into "fear" in her novel. The plot is predictable. A summer game gets turned into more than a game when the "truth and dare" challenges start coming to three girls in the novel long after the game should have stopped. The new notes make the challenges more difficult and harmful than anything the girls have ever played, and the person writing them is also trying to ruin their lives. I guessed whom the author intended for me "to think" was the culprit in this novel about halfway through the book. However, because I have also read "The Pretty Little Liars" series, I was not surprised when the ending took a different twist. Obviously Green intends for a second book to come out soon. You can easily see that since the ending practicallly says, "You can't stop now." It was an average teenage book -- not extremey exciting but easily readable for summer fun.

Like Pretty Little Liars!! the Darer is a new kind of 'A'
Terrible plot with a predictable ending and poorly developed characters. The storyline drags on and on in an attempt to keep you hooked when in reality you just want to scream "Get on with it already!!". A bad mix of wanna-be "Gossip Girl" with amateurish "who done it" undertones, this book is painful to read from start to finish.
I love this book! It is a mysterious book that keeps you on your toes.
I'll be honest with you and say that the beginning of the book was not all that great. I was bored to death. But come the first dare it all gets exciting. Like the author asked ... How far will you go to keep a secret? Well these three girl went through hell and back and it's still not over.

Read the book and make your own notes on who you think it was. Maybe you were right from the start. Or maybe not. Only one way to find out.
I never wanted to put this book down. I stayed up well into the night trying to finish it, wanting to know what happened next. I cried at the end, because this author does an amazing job of capturing the mood. She does great a tugging at your heart strings and every others senses throughout the entire book. I usually dont like series because they go on forever but i cant wait to get my hands on the sequel!
Often, book that have free previews on or are provided free on are some of the worst examples of writing I have ever seen.

I was happily proven wrong in this case.

Green's Truth or Dare is definitely a book with a target audience but although I don't fall into that category, I fell in love. There is drama, humor and characters with personalities that draw you in.

I know that I'm invested in a story and its characters when I am yelling at them or giving them advice while reading. And that is exactly what happened with Sydney.

Green may be a new author to the genre but she captures the vibrance, superficialness and drama that goes along with being a teenage girl. She also does what every author should do. Take an event that happens every day in real life and ask what if? What if truth or dare was more than just a game, what is if it had significant consequences?

The only complaint is that this was a free preview and I couldn't continue to turn the page! I cannot wait to get the full book in May!!

Many will compare this book/preview to Pretty Little Liars and although I can see the similarities, not every book that deals with teenage girls and suspense is the same. Green easily sets herself apart from other writers in the genre due to her impressive writing skills and ability to create a world that is realistic yet all it's own.
One word to sum this book up AMAZING. I thought I'd like it because of it's similiarities to Pretty Little Liars but I have to admit I think I like Truth or Dare just a little bit more. It kept me on the edge of my seat, rushing to get to the next page to read what was going to happen. Even better there is a second and third book in the series so the mystery and thrills don't end in this book.
